The Equity And Human Rights Committee

Consisting of a Chairperson (elected by and from the Board of Directors) and one member elected by each Area Council, this committee promotes a discrimination-free workplace and advises the Board of Directors on issues concerning members from the following four equity-seeking groups: Aboriginal Peoples; Visible Minorities; Persons with Disabilities; Gays, Lesbians, Bisexuals and Transgendered. The committee also works with other provincial, federal, and international equity and human rights committees to promote equality and solidarity.

Every two years at the MGEU Convention, the committee honours the efforts of a past or present member by presenting them with the MGEU Humanitarian Award. If you know of an MGEU member who you feel deserves such recognition, click here to learn more about the 2010 Humanitarian Award.
